Katoomba Scenic Railway

The Scenic Railway is listed as the steepest railway in the world (Guiness Book of Records). The railway which was built between 1878 and 1900 is originally part of the Katoomba mining tramways.

The funicular railway line descends through sandstone cliffs, through a rock tunnel beside Orphan Rock down to platform from which magnificent views over the Blue Mountains emerge. Several walking tracks lead through the rain forest with huge tree ferns.
